  1. What an excellent image and the poem really is beyond words…thanks every so much for sharing this translation…it is indeed inspiring.

  2. just to let you know, the poem is originally written in Kurdish, as the poet is a Kurd. whatever it may be, it’s great.

  3. Hello darling.. well translated thanks… just a note; the poet him self is a great Kurd poet NOT arabic, so the text you first saw in arabic might be translated too.

  4. Dear PJ,

I would like to say a couple of things about this poem. First of all, this poem is by the Kurdish poet Dilawar Karadaghi (he is an Iraqi Kurdish poet but not an Arab poet.) Secondly, I have translated this poem and it was published in Poetry Review in Britain a few years ago. It is also published on the Poetry Translation website. I urge you to correct this information on this page.

    Best wishes,

  5. Lovely Poem but please note that the poet Dilawar Karadaghi is a Kurdish Poet. He writes poetry in Kurdish not Arabic. Please correct this.
